A Stay at Home Missionary

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them-Ephesians 2:10 A few years ago, I had the absolute privilege of meeting and having a conversation with Anne Graham Lotz.
At the time that I got to meet her, I was CONVINCED that I was supposed to be a missionary, travel all around the world and tell the Good News of Jesus Christ.
I didn't know how i was going to do it, and i didn't know where I was gonna do it...
but I was gonna do it.
Never mind what my sweet husband Brian thought about this little idea that I (notice that I JUST said I and not the LORD) had.
Well anyway, I thought "Hey, I'll get Billy Graham's daughter's advice and she'll tell me it's a GREAT idea and she'll be my mentor and we'll be great friends" (why didn't anyone stop me?) It was finally my turn to meet her...
I roll on up and she gives me this beautiful smile and a hug.
After introductions I tell her boldly "I'm going to be in the ministry, I would love any advice" (again, why didn't any one stop me?) She just smiled...
gave a little chuckle, then asked me...
"Was this your idea or God's idea?" Yup, she is Billy Graham's daughter alright.
I told her that I thought it was God's idea but I was not 100 percent sure.
She gently reminded me to stay in the Word and in prayer.
She also reminded me that God already has my purpose laid out for me, he is just waiting on me to be obedient to Him.
But I MUST LISTEN to him.
Do you have any bright ideas? Are you convinced that you think it's a good idea, or are you certain that this is part of God's will for your life.
A few weeks later after much prayer and trying to do a better job listening to Him I figured out that you don't have to go overseas to be a missionary, I can be a missionary and you can be a missionary right where you live.
So, I don't think I will be starting a wheelchair basketball league and spreading the Gospel in the wilderness of Africa ANY time soon.
Don't forget that HE loves you and so do I, Shelley Olsen
